Chemicals & Water Chemistry

BROMINE/CHLORINE
Either bromine and or chlorine are used to kill and control bacteria in the water. They also attack and reduce the level of organics in the water. Levels should be tested every time you use your hot tub (before entering the water) to see if sufficient chemical is present. The ammount of chemical used will have to be adjusted according to your test results. Bromine and chlorine are consumed quickly when people are in a hot tub. During prolonged usage, test periodically and add non-chlorine shock if necessary. Never use a calcium-based chlorine in a hot tub, as it will damage your heater element.

SPA SECURE
Helps prevent scaling and staining. Regular usage prolongs the life of your heater element.

SPA PERFECT
This natural enzyme product helps prevent deposits, corrosion and scale on the hot tub and its equipment. It also breaks down organic materials, clears up cloudy or dirty water and helps control the amount of Bromine or Chlorine you use.

SHOCK (non-chlorine)
This oxidizer should be used weekly or as necessary during periods of high usage to remove materials that have a bromine demand, such as organic materials, suntan lotion, hair spray and leaves. This assures the presence of free bromine residuals in the water.

pH
Keeping the pH at the recommended levels will prevent scaling (high pH) and corrosion (low pH)of your hot tub and help prevent skin irritation. If the reading on your test kit turns purple or blue, you need to look at your bromine level. If your bromine level is high it will bleach the reagent used in the pH test and you will get a false reading. Do not make adjustments until bromine levels decrease and an accurate test result is possible. If your pH is too low, you need to add "pH up" and if it is too high, you need to add "Ph down". Use only 1 tablespoon of powder-pure treatment unless directed and do not add more for 2 to 3 days.

HARDNESS
Never use soft water in your hot tub. Calcium hardness increaser can be used to correct soft water. Very high calcium hardness levels cause scale formation and can be reduced by the addition of water with a lower calcium hardness or dealt with by using SPA SECURE.

Alkalinity
Alkalinity is the pH buffer in your water. Low alkalinity will cause pH bounce and corrosion. High alkalinity will cause high pH, scaling and cloudy water.

FOAM GONE
Quickly and effectively disperses foam and is completely compatible with all other chemicals. This is only a temporary solution for a foam problem, however. Foam is an indication that the hot tub water is out of control and your chemical treatment has not kept up to the bather load. The regular use of non-chlorine SHOCK and SPA PERFECT will reduce the formation of foam.

INSPARATION or YUDACHI
These fragrances can be used for aroma therapy purposes or merely to add scent to your water.
